IT is the start of a new term at Bordon’s Phoenix Theatre and Arts Centre, with a freshly revamped website, extended parking and the autumn-winter season brochure on the shelves.

Starting this month, a new programme of theatre, comedy, music and film begins alongside workshops and classes for all ages and abilities.

Comedy highlights include star of BBC1’s Live at the Apollo Andrew Lawrence, as well performances by Ellie Taylor and Justin Moorhouse.

Rob’s Phoenix Theatre Club (Rob Allerston is the theatre’s director) continues to bring “ground-breaking, challenging, and high-quality theatre shows” to audiences. On Saturday, September 16, audiences are invited to celebrate the opening of The Phoenix’s newest event area, The Playground - an outdoor theatre space which can seat up to 200 people.

Suitable for all the family, a barbecue hosted by the 1st Liss Scouts will accompany a performance, at 1pm, of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by the world’s first cycling theatre company, The Handlebards (see picture).

The new season also includes a variety of family and children’s theatre shows, beginning in October with Story Pocket Theatre’s Storyteller, Storyteller - a feast of clowning, comical competition and physical silliness for ages three and above.

And, of course, there are the annual favourites, including The Phoenix Beer Festival, on Saturday, September 30, with award-winning ales, locally sourced food and live music.

September also sees the launch of a new term of workshops, including drawing and painting with Kathy Green.

Regular classes, offering a range of activities for both children and adults, include drama, dance, craft, Zumba and sewing.
