A PETTING farm has launched in Bordon after five years of development on the site.

Sharon Blake, manager at South Downs Park Farm, came to the site in 2014, renting the land from Stuart Trussler for her two ponies.

Although the land was initially empty, Sharon sought the assistance of Stuart, who liked the idea of a small petting farm, and helped with investments into the area and its animals.

Sharon described her time on the farm as “24/7” with jobs such as shearing and vaccinations. She works alongside a team of volunteers who assist in the caring of more than 50 animals at the farm.

Volunteer Donna Burrows described the farm as “one of those places that when you walk in you feel at home”.

Animals at the farm include llamas, ponies, pigs and lambs,

The team also offer pony rides and ‘Farmer for the Day’ experiences, enabling children to get up close to the animals.

On the aims for her farm, Sharon added: “I want to keep it as rustic and warm as I can, and I want it to be a community farm.”

The farm is set to host the first of its fun days this Sunday, with others planned for August 25 and September 1. The event will see activities such as pig racing and welly wanging. Adult admission is £8, and £5 for children.
