SETTING out the aims for the year to July 2018  the new president of Rotary Club of Farnham, Paul Fry, said that the club would focus its fundraising on local charity Step by Step and the International End Polio now campaign.

Step by Step, based in Aldershot, supports local young people who are going through hard times, including homelessness.

Paul Fry said Rotary had chosen this charity because “Step by Step helps young people turn despair into hope and helps them gain the life and work skills to turn that hope into reality”.

For more than 30 years Rotary International has spearheaded the international campaign to eradicate polio and for the last 10 years the Gates Foundation has supported Rotary by contributing $2 for every $1 raised by Rotary.

As a result the total eradication of polio is now within sight with Rotary, the Gates Foundation and the EU pushing hard to reach that goal within the next 12 months.
