SCOUT headquarters has approved the appointment of Joe Rogerson as County Commissioner for Surrey.
Joe was previously District Commissioner of Wimbledon and Wandle District in the GLSW Scout County, a position he has held for some seven years following previous service at group level.
His existing district comprises 18 groups which he is swapping for the 18 districts of Surrey.
A former headmaster of two London inner-city schools, he currently works as a general manager for a ceramic tiling sub-contractor and lives in Mitcham.
Joe has himself been a Cub, Scout and a Venture Scout before coming into leadership in 2000 and is married with three adult children, all of whom have been in Scouting.
He replaces the outgoing County Commissioner for Surrey, Roxanna Bostock, and took over the reigns on April 2.
Martin Gerrard, county chairman, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to appoint a County Commissioner who is so enthusiastic and committed to the role and who is such a worthy successor to Roxanna.
“I am very grateful to my colleagues on the Search Group - Nigel Bevan (CC Berks), Romy White (Scout Network, Normandy), Roger Dix (DC Spelthorne), Nigel Bevan (CC Berks), Ian Newbery (regional commissioner) and David Walsh (regional development manager) for all their help, time and commitment over the last three months, to those who made nominations and most importantly to the candidates themselves for offering their services to Surrey.
“We have a great result but couldn”t have go there without the help and support of so many people.”
