AN acute shortage of social workers in the Alton area has led to the introduction of measures which should improve career progression for existing staff and help attract new recruits.
Agreed at a meeting of Hampshire County Council's personnel sub-committee, the measures will include the regrading of some social work posts such as care managers, occupational therapists and team managers, with commensurate salary increases, and additional payments for approved social workers who have special responsibilities in the field of mental health.
