FARNHAM Sixth Form College celebrated another year of outstanding results with a pass rate of 99.3 per cent, an increase of 0.1 per cent on last year and more than one percentage point above the national average of 98.1 per cent.

High A* to B grades also increased by nearly three per cent to 51.7 per cent, with A* to C pass rates at 76.8 per cent. With a 100 per cent pass rate in every subject area, except for one, students at Farnham Sixth Form College have given themselves the best chance of progressing to university or launching their intended career.

Oxford University awaits outstanding student Phoebe Hobbs, who achieved exceptional results. Phoebe will be studying biochemistry at Oxford after gaining A*A*A*A in biology, chemistry, maths and physics.

Speaking about her achievement Phoebe said: “I am overwhelmingly happy. I couldn’t have asked for more and I’ve gained my place at Oxford. I’ve had excellent support from staff and I really believe that the college’s friendly atmosphere and plentiful resources have nurtured my potential. I’m just so excited to start my new course with this excellent foundation.”

University also beckons for Alex Taylor and Tara Pryce, who both secured places at their first choice universities. Alex achieved ABB in French, chemistry and biology and will be moving on to the University of Manchester to study biomedical Science, with the ultimate aim of working in the NHS. Tara achieved A*ABB in maths, further maths, biology and physics and will be studying for a masters in maths at Exeter University before beginning a career in corporate finance.

James Windle has taken a different approach to his future career in finance, by securing a role with Wise & Co. as a trainee accountant. James achieved ABCD in graphic design, physical education, history and accounting and commented that the college “have really pushed me to achieve my best”.

Students at Farnham Sixth Form College also received results for their AS-level exams, the first year of their A-level studies. William Bell is hoping to move on to university next year to study chemical engineering after achieving AABB in French, ICT, maths and chemistry. Amy McGinn achieved AAA in biology, history and English literature and is looking forward to completing her second year at the college before applying to university to study law.

As a college we are thrilled that we have continued to build on our strong track record of pass rates which are significantly higher than the national average, and we are particularly pleased with out A* to B high grades rates which have also increased markedly this year.
