Since the elections in May, Farnham Town Council has been preparing the ground and reshaping the budget for some exciting new initiatives in 2024 and beyond.

All councillors who represent the eight wards of our town council area are totally committed to delivering the best possible results and services to enhance the lives of residents in Farnham.

As a result of listening to you, we have agreed a significant level of additional funding to support provision of services for younger people.

We are also working alongside existing groups to improve Farnham’s response to climate change and sustainability.

Maintaining the vitality and viability of our business community in these difficult times is another key aspiration. Following the successful vote by retail and commercial businesses for a Business Improvement District in Farnham, the town council will be working with the new BID Board to improve the customer experience with a focus on collaboration, safety and much needed retail outlet security.

We are also hoping the Brightwells Yard complex with its new state of the art Reel cinema, restaurants such as the Coppa Club, retail outlets, a gym and a new integrated multi-storey car park will bring a boost to the local economy.

The long-awaited Farnham Infrastructure Programme is now at design stage and should see a start on upgraded pedestrian and cycle access, improved traffic flows, new paving and street furniture at some point in 2024.

In terms of regular town council business, a full program of events is planned including the third Literary Festival in March, our legendary street markets and of course the very popular summer Music in the Meadow and World Craft Town programme. More details at farnham.gov.uk and the Discover Farnham App.

We have both felt privileged to meet and work with so many very special people within the council administration, businesses and voluntary sectors in 2023 and hope to meet as many of you as possible in 2024 as we support the wonderful community of Farnham.

It just remains for us to wish a healthy, prosperous and happy new year!
