A VILLAGE near Petersfield will be raising a glass to the new Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire this week. Nigel Atkinson, from Froxfield, has been the vice-Lord Lieutenant for Hampshire since 2007 and a deputy Lieutenant of Hampshire since 1999. He takes on the role of the Queen's representative in the county following the retirement of Dame Mary Fagan last week. Mr Atkinson, the chief executive of the former Gales Brewery near Portsmouth, said: "I'm honoured and I've got very big shoes to fill." For full story, see this week's Petersfield Herald.
