SPACEMEN, aliens, rockets and other celestial objects will be in abundance at this year’s Churt space-themed fete, which will be opened on Saturday, June 11, at 2pm by local celebrity and The Night Manager actor Alistair Petrie.
The event being beld on the village recreation ground promises an array of traditional family fun, stalls and refreshments until 5pm, including a children’s parade, country dancing, tug of war, a dog show, slides, trampolines and farm animals, fancy dress competition, raffle, plant sale, tea, cakes, barbecue, beer and Pimms.
In celebration of the Queen’s 90th birthday, a cookery competition will also challenge bakers to bring a birthday cake or cupcakes fit for a Buckingham Palace garden party, and there will also be a space-themed biscuit decorating competition for the children on the day.
