A WARNING has been made that Petersfield could turn into a "conservative town for older people" if planning permission is given to demolish the town's nightclub and develop the site for luxury retirement homes.

It was revealed this week that the prime quarter-of-an-acre Vertigo site in Swan Street has been sold to Pegasus Retirement Home, for an undisclosed sum, believed to be in the region of a million pounds.

A full version of this story will be found in the Petersfield Herald of September 29, 2000.
