The contentious Lowsley Farm planning application was due to go before East Hampshire District Council's planning committee on Thursday – despite requests by residents and district councillors to have it taken off the agenda and postponed.

District and parish councillor Bill Mouland has been fighting the application on the grounds of road safety.

He claimed: "Only Bernie Eccleston or Jeremy Clarkson would tackle a roundabout after such a dangerous double bend in the road."

And county councillor Ferris Cowper, who also represents the area on the district council, has pledged to raise safety issues with the county's highway chiefs.
