IT may have been the perfect weather for ducks, but it certainly wasn't for the Sheet villagers who turned out in their hundreds on a wet and windy day on Saturday for the great River Rother Duck Race.

Several hundred truly stoical duck racers tuned out to paddle under a village marquee for hamburgers, hot dogs and other refreshments as the 2,000 toy ducks got under the starters orders of Brian Bird.
