PEOPLE in Farnham are to be denied a say in Rowledge's proposed split from Farnham Town Council, after Waverley Borough Council's leadership ignored calls from councillors to consult the wider community on Tuesday.

Peeps into the Past: Castaway Christmas for Tilford's own Robinson CrusoeFour Waverley borough councillors, Christopher Storey, Ian Sampson, David Munro and the Mayor of Farnham Paddy Blagden, had called for all residents in Farnham to be consulted, arguing that a potential loss in council tax revenue would affect everyone.
However, after the four councillors were defeated in Waverley's Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Committee on July 22, the council's decision-making executive committee upheld its original decision to only consult residents in the proposed new parish.
It means each local government elector in Rowledge and the so-called Sandrock Triangle will soon have a chance to stake their claim for independence from Farnham during the pivotal second consultation phase, by filling in a postal questionnaire.
