A LIPHOOK tree surgeon shared his barbecue tips on Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain’s latest hit TV programme, which features her ‘Family Favourites’.
Heading out of the kitchen, Nadiya went on a quest to East Hampshire to meet up with James Green, who goes the extra mile to ensure barbecue perfection.
A former parish councillor, James, who admits he is a barbecue obsessive, demonstrated his wood-smoking techniques to ensure perfect results when cooking meat.
He told The Herald: “I am a member of a Facebook barbecue group called ‘Country Wood Smoke’ and somebody recommended me to the production company of the programme, who then got in touch.

“She is also the loveliest, most genuine person and we had lots of fun cooking other food as well, which was not shown in the programme.”
James believes the best results on a barbecue are achieved by adding wood, like oak or cherry, to the charcoal, which gives the meat a very distinctive smokey flavour while it is slow cooked for several hours.
He is now also selling bags of barbecue wood through his Liphook Tree Surgeons business.
Nadiya’s Family Favourites is shown on BBC2 and the show is available on the BBC iPlayer for another two weeks.
