THE villagers have spoken and Rowledge looks set to remain a part of Farnham for the foreseeable future, after a bid to form a new parish council was defeated by more than two-to-one during the second consultation phase.

When asked if Waverley Borough Council should create a separate parish council for Rowledge to replace Farnham Town Council, 363 answered 'yes' compared to 738 answering 'no'.

Waverley Borough Council still holds the deciding vote on the governance review, to be determined at its December 10 meeting, but councillors are unlikely to approve a new parish council following such a conclusive result.
