SEIZE the moment and nominate the most deserving candidates now for Surrey Young Superstars 2018.

That’s the plea from Haslemere Travel, which founded the county-wide competition in 2012, who launched this year’s event last Friday with the support of key sponsor NatWest.

The not-for-profit, annual awards recognise the county’s outstanding young residents aged five to 19. The sixth annual awards are run in partnership with the Guildford Harbour Hotel and Surrey Life magazine in aid of the umbrella charity Surrey Youth Focus.

The 2018 awards ceremony will take place, in Guildford, on Sunday, May 6, when the trophies will be presented by Surrey Lord Lieutenant Michael More-Molyneux. Since the competition was founded, the efforts of more than 300 young people have been rewarded.

Haslemere Travel owner Gemma Antrobus said: “Surrey Young Superstars is thrilled to be sponsored by NatWest once more.

“The awards have proved to be a wonderful showcase for young people in Surrey – demonstrating their community spirit, unsung bravery and hard work.

“We hope many more young people in the county will be nominated, as the awards are free to enter.”

Peter Quilter, director of commercial banking, said: “I am delighted NatWest is once again supporting this wonderful event. I have seen first-hand how inspiring the awards are for the young people involved, their families, and our wider Surrey community.”

Nominations can be made in six categories, which comprise: Caring Superstar; Fundraising Superstar (5-12 years); Fundraising Superstar (13-19); Volunteering Superstar; Community Superstar; Courageous Superstar.

The winner of the top award, Superstar of the Year, is selected by the judges from the individual category winners.
