SELBORNE Primary School pupils had an unusual and modern theme as the subject of their annual Christmas play, as it featured a single, homeless mother.

The whole school performed in a musical production of No Room for a Baby and Isabella Marshall played the homeless mother who was turned away by various groups of people, until a family took pity on her and offered her a home.

The play also featured the traditional Nativity as well as some humorous scenes and energetic dancing.

Maia Fuller, Alice Shaw, Lilly Buckland, Esme Doyle and Ciara Hunter provided the girls’ choir and Maia and Alice also sang solos. Connor Turner and Archie Robertson played the business men who were only interested in making money.

St Mary’s Church was packed with parents and guests and a retiring collection was held for the children’s chosen charity, the Make a Wish Foundation, which raised £358.10.
