RESIDENTS and staff at Shannon Court care home in Hindhead donned fake moustaches and cheesy grins to support Movember and raise awareness of men’s health
Ladies and gentlemen at the home, some in their 90s, their families and staff all enjoyed a moustache-themed afternoon tea and quiz while wearing their taches.
Movember, the month normally known as November, is when brave and selfless men around the world grow a moustache and women step up to support them, all to raise awareness and funds for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer and male suicide.
The home’s deputy manager, Sam Oliver, said: “Supporting Movember was a fun way for our home to raise awareness of men’s health.
“When we did the quiz, the residents were laughing so much, it was a beautiful vision.
“It was evident talking to our residents of the differences between older men and women’s attitudes when it comes to talking about their health.
“Many of our ladies remarked on how men of their generation often wouldn’t share their health worries.
“Taking part in these types of national events helps our residents feel part of the community and contribute to a greater cause.”
