THE number of drink drivers arrested at the roadside has jumped by 21 per cent in the first two weeks of the annual Christmas crackdown, according to Hampshire Police.
The number arrested for drink-driving or while under the influence of drugs rose to 108 between December 1 and December 15, compared to 89 in the same period last year.
Seventy-five people have been charged so far, an increase of 39 per cent on the same time last year
Inspector Andy Storey, who headed the campaign, said: "It is disappointing that people still are not getting the message about drink-driving. It is astounding that people are still taking the risk."
