A 73-year-old Haslemere woman was taken to hospital with serious head injuries following a car accident.

Visiting a friend in Midhurst Road last Friday at 12-30 pm, the woman asked her friend's husband to turn her car around on the busy road so she could make her journey home.

During the manoeuvre, the white Nissan Micra was in collision with the two women.

The injured woman was immediately taken to the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford. As the Herald went to press, a spokesman said that the injured woman remained in a serious condition.

The driver's wife was unharmed.

Local residents have previously expressed concerns about the road, recently described as being "one of the most dangerous junctions leading into Haslemere".
