Sir, - I am not a supporter, for quite a few reasons, of countryside alliance. However, I have seen two things quite recently that are unforgivable. The first is people removing the tape over foothills so they can get through. The second is people walking their dogs by restricted areas off the lead, thus allowing their pets free run of the common.
Please can we have some discipline? Not all farmers are whinging millionaires, seeking every grant going. People are destroying the chance of the average livestock farmer to recover from this awful mess.
We all have to co-operate, do as we are told, obey the rules, so hopefully the countryside can be opened up again.
Remember, there is a very large fine for breaking the rules if you are caught. The easiest way is the legal way, stay out of the country. Do not use marked footpaths, and exercise your pets at home.
