ALTON Town Council has supported residents in registering an objection to an application by Mayfield House Nursery to build a two-storey rear extension on its property on the corner of Anstey Road and Anstey Mill Lane.
Councillors believe the proposal would result in “an undesirable and unacceptable over development of the site” where the form and mass of development would be at variance with that of the immediately adjoining properties.
Furthermore, there are fears that “inadequate visibility splays” are proposed for the site access onto Anstey Mill Lane and that this endanger and inconvenience thighway users and would be inadequate for a 30mph junction.
There are concerns too that the proposal incorporates inadequate provision for the on-site parking and manoeuvring of vehicles clear of the highway, which would interfere with the free flow of traffic on Anstey Mill Lane, to the detriment of highway safety.
