THREE officers from Whitehill Police Station have received commendations after their quick thinking saved a man's life in Liphook in May. Pc Antony Goodridge, Pc Darren Dixon and Sgt Stuart Tripp were among a number of officers from the East Hampshire district who received awards for their hard work and dedication to Hampshire Constabulary, at a ceremony in October. On May 13, the officers responded to a report that damage had been caused at the Bramshott Working Men's Club in Liphook. At the scene they found a man who had smashed a window and cut his arm, causing serious bleeding. While other officers dealt with public-order issues, Pc Goodridge, Pc Dixon, Sgt Tripp and four members of the public gave the injured man first aid for 50 minutes before the arrival of an ambulance. The injury was so bad that they had to use bandages from more than three first aid kits to stem the bleeding. Sgt Tripp went with the injured man to hospital in the ambulance. East Hampshire District Commander, Chief Insp Phil Kedge, said: "This award ceremony demonstrates the ongoing commitment of police officers to the local communities within East Hampshire and recognises the members of the public who have supported the police and their own communities.  "On a daily basis, officers face difficult and demanding situations that require courage and the highest levels of professionalism. "Our local communities should be very proud of the officers and members of the public recognised at this awards ceremony. "The preservation of life remains the number one priority for us all, and those involved on the night are all to be commended for their quick thinking and prompt action."
