ONE of Alton's oldest shops, Rose's in Market Street, will cease trading at the end of March.
The business, which has dealt in agricultural, horticultural and pet supplies since before the second world war, and for 40 years under its present management, has been driven out by "a variety of reasons which all add up to a problem," owner Peter Ellis told The Herald last week.
