TEAM GB Olympian, world and European BMX champion Liam Phillips will officially open the new skatepark in Bordon on Saturday.

A ceremony will take place between midday and 2pm, when Mr Phillips and the Mayor of Whitehill Colin Leach will declare the facility open.

Attendees will enjoy demonstrations from professional skateboarders as well as music and food.

Skateboarders, scooter and BMX riders can enter a competition to show off their jumps and tricks.

The skatepark has been designed by Wheelscape for the Whitehill & Bordon Regeneration Company, which is developing Prince Philip Barracks and areas around it.

The Regeneration Company’s project lead James Child said: “We’d like to thank everyone who has made this project possible.

“The input we have received has been incredible and we are proud to provide such a facility for the young people of Whitehill and Bordon to enjoy for many years to come.”

The skatepark is part of a new landscape planned for Budds Lane and will be in a hub of activities to also include a youth cafe.
