THE Olympic build-up has reached fever pitch and the scene is set for Petersfield and Rogate to have their "moment to shine".

That's the clear message from organisers as the town prepares to welcome the historic Olympic torch relay next week – ahead of this month's London Olympics.

All eyes will turn to Petersfield and Rogate on Monday as the torch continues its journey to the Olympic Stadium in the nation's capital and the start of the 2012 Games.

A spokesman for joint organisers East Hampshire District Council and their county council counterparts said as many as 40,000 were expected to descend on Petersfield and Rogate, the village across the border in neighbouring West Sussex.

And he added that the town was well and truly ready to welcome the arrival of the already famous flame and its 30 minutes of fame.
