THE village of Rogate has done its bit for the Olympic effort – and so have the patriotic folk with a sense of the historic who converged on the little corner of West Sussex.

Roads underwater as isolated flooding reported around Herald & Post areaThe occasion was day 59 of the Olympic torch relay, with the cherished flame passing through the village on route to Brighton in East Sussex, having earlier passed through jam-packed Petersfield.
The flickering flame may only have been in the village west of Petersfield for 10 minutes, but it was more than enough time to whip up frenzied cheers and a rare fervour as the Olympic spirit truly took hold.
