MAKING a splash on Saturday will be a former Olympic backstroke swimmer when she cuts the ribbon to usher in a new season at Petersfield open-air pool.

Kathy Read, who competed in Los Angeles, Seoul and Barcelona, will be in the swim at 10am at the heated Tor Way leisure facility, and pool bosses will be hoping it marks the start of another bumper year.
