THE Olympic torch is coming to Petersfield – but plans to screen the main event in The Square could be a "dead duck", according to the town's mayor.

There were celebrations across the district on Monday when Olympic chiefs confirmed the torch would pass through East Hampshire next summer.

The flame will pass through Petersfield and Rogate on Monday, July 16, on a relay from Portsmouth to Brighton.
