THE ever popular Alice Holt running races will return on Saturday, September 22.
Organisers Farnham Runners hope this will encourage a wide age range of local people to get fit.
“There is still time to train for the events,” said race director Craig Tate-Grimes. “This is a scenic, undulating forest course, generally smooth hard-packed gravel making it safe and fast for an off-road event. With the main 10k race and 5k, 3k, 1k races, it is a great day out for the whole family.”
On the day entries will only be available for the 3km and 1km events.
“There is a limit on numbers as we want to keep up the same high standards as in previous years,” Craig added.
The 10km race is open to those over 16 years old, the 5km for those over 13, while the 3km is for children aged nine to 12 and the 1km for five to eight year olds.
The events could not go ahead without the support of sponsors.
This year for the first time Catch Resource Management, an IT recruitment company is sponsoring the 5km and 10km races, while Trueman Letting Company is sponsoring the 3km and 1km events as well as the race numbers.
Philip Barker, founder and sales director of Catch Resource Management, is now a Farnham Runners member and plans to take part.
“Catch Resource Management is proud to support the Alice Holt event which I’m sure will be enjoyed by runners of all levels and is set in a spectacular wooded setting. We actively encourage fitness and well-being across our organisation and welcome the opportunity to sponsor a fun event which we hope will encourage people to give running a go.”
Owner Sue Trueman said: “Trueman Letting Company is proud to be sponsoring this popular event which gives both fun and regular runners of all ages the chance to be part of the annual Alice Holt Race.”
The races take place from 11am-1.15pm. Go to www.farnham-runners.org.uk for full details.
