NEARLY 500 runners took to the roads around Holybourne on Sunday for the 28th Alton 10-mile road race.

First home in a cracking 52 minutes 14 seconds was Simon Plummer from City of Salisbury Running Club, who leads the individual men's section in the Hampshire Road Race League. He shaved 20 seconds off last year's time and was four-and-a-half minutes ahead of second placed Daniel Bailey from Victory AC
