WEYDON School hosted its annual prize-giving event with special guest TV presenter Angellica Bell, a regular on BBC1s The One Show.

The evening was hosted by new headboy, Jack Cantwell, and new headgirl, Abbie Rodger, with prizes and certificates handed to winners by headteacher John Winter and Angellica Bell.

The annual event is an evening of celebration where students are awarded for their achievement within a subject area, for progress and for effort.

Alongside these presentations was the new ‘Weydon Academy Awards’ given to pupils for their academic achievement, reflecting the school ethos and their outstanding contribution to the school.

Students were presented with a specially designed prize-winners’ pin-badge, commemorative pen, a certificate and a voucher - some awards also merited an engraved shield.

The students’ achievements were celebrated in front of their parents, Weydon School staff and VIP guests.

This year’s event was sponsored by Burns & Webber Estate Agents. Dan Dewar, partner of Burns & Webber, said: “It was a real pleasure to meet so many Farnham-based high achievers all in one place and amazing to see how passionate the teachers were about the students awards. It was a real privilege to be a small part of the evening.”

Mr Winter commented: “The event was a very warm and uplifting evening which provided an opportunity for every student to enjoy their successes. Angellica Bell provided the audience with an interesting message which I am sure they will never forget. I am very proud of the students and their achievements.”

In his annual speech to parents Mr Winter thanked students, teachers, parents and governors for their work in the ongoing success of students at Weydon School.
