AS 2016 drew to a close it was a year to remember for a Hook charity initiative.

Tylney Hall Hotel in Rotherwick helped raise over £2,600 for the National Garden Scheme through a number of garden open days throughout the year, posting record attendances for the events.

Of the near £3,000 raised through ticket sales, all of it will go directly to the national scheme charity, which will use the profits to continue to support a wide range of charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Help the Hospice and The Queen’s Nursing Institute.

The gardens at the hotel are famed for their beauty, sitting within a 66-acre plot steeped in history and lovingly restored and maintained.

A total of three National Garden Scheme Open Days were held throughout the year, which saw more than 500 people explore the hotel’s Italian Garden, Dutch Gardens and Water Tower, as well as the Victorian Orchard, Rose and Azalea Gardens, Boathouse Lake, and many more scenic spots.

For more than 80 years the National Garden Scheme has established its reputation as the organiser of outstanding gardens being opened to visitors in order to raise funds for charity.

Sam Aziz, general manager at Tylney Hall Hotel, said: “As a hotel which prides itself on its stunning surroundings, the National Garden Scheme Open Days allow us to open our gardens up to the public while helping to raise money for a truly worthy cause.

“We are thrilled with this year’s total amount raised and attendance and we look forward to welcoming even more garden lovers in 2017.”
