RENOWNED mezzo-soprano opera singer Dame Ann Murray is to perform in a concert at King Edward’s School, Witley, in aid of the Samson Centre for multiple sclerosis, on Thursday, June 23.
Dame Ann, who has a long and distinguished career which has seen her perform at the most famous opera houses in the world – will be joined by acclaimed concert pianist Timothy Ardern and flautist Susannah Walsh.
The concert will also include singing performances from King Edward’s pupils and at Dame Ann’s suggestion, ballet dancers, including two from partner prep school Barrow Hills, will perform during two of the songs chosen for the recital.
The Samson Centre, in Guildford, gives practical and emotional support to people in Surrey, who are facing the daily challenges of living with multiple sclerosis. It is one of King Edward’s chosen charities for 2016.
Dame Ann’s involvement came about as a result of the opera singer’s friendship with a Samson Centre volunteer, whose son is severely affected by MS.
The concert takes place in King Edward’s Charter Hall, at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from the Guildford Tourist Information Centre on 01483 444334, priced £15 for adults, £10 for concessions and £5 for students – buy online at www.visitguildford.com.
