THE Dance Movement, one of the resident dance companies at the Farnham Maltings, and Re:Bourne, the charitable arm of Matthew Bourne’s New Adventure, have teamed up to offer Farnham’s next generation of dancers and choreographers an unique opportunity.
On Monday, April 18, some of the dance industry’s most talented and respected dancers will host three workshops for young people.
The first will be held between 3pm and 4pm at Weydon School, aimed at 11 to 16 year olds and will focus on dance from Sleeping Beauty.
The second workshop is for boys aged eight and over and will also be held at Weydon School from 4pm to 5pm. The theme will be the Lord of the Flies.
The final workshop will take place at Frensham Heights School between 5.30pm and 6.30pm. This is aimed at advanced level dancers.
Rachel Palmer, programme director at The Dance Movement, said: “These workshops are for any young person who is interested in dance and who would like to learn show-specific choreography.
“The boys’ workshop should be particularly enjoyable as Lord of the Flies is very physical and includes lots of acrobatic movements.
“We are very excited to be working with Re:Bourne as both dance companies share a common desire to introduce dance to a wider audience. Now that Re:Bourne is based at the Farnham Maltings, we hope this will be the first of many opportunities for joint working.”
The workshops cost £10 per person. Places can be booked by emailing [email protected] or calling 01252 745420.
