IN May this year the North Hampshire Organists’ Association (NHOA) starts a year-long programme of musical events to celebrate its Golden Jubilee.
This thriving group has 70 plus members who are enthusiastic about organs and love playing or listening to all kinds of organ music.
Malcolm Archer, the international organist, composer and choir director, has recently been elected president of NHOA.
He is director of Chapel Music at Winchester College and has enjoyed a distinguished career in cathedral music, which has taken him to posts at Norwich, Bristol and Wells Cathedrals, as well as director of music at St Paul’s Cathedral in London.
Malcolm Archer will mark the start of the Golden Jubilee year with a celebratory recital at 7.30pm on Saturday, May 7, at St Andrew’s Parish Church, Farnham.
This is set to be a thrilling evening where Malcolm will demonstrate his mastery of the organ with music by Elgar, Bach, Stanley, Franck and finish with an improvisation on themes submitted by the audience on the night.
Admission is free, but there will be a voluntary donation.
