MEMBERS of St Thomas-on-The Bourne Church in Farnham, were overwhelmed at the success of this year’s Christmas market, which raised more than £4,600 for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, 22 per cent up on last year.
The festive market impressed visitors with a wide variety of stalls offering unique and individual Christmas gifts and stocking fillers, homemade jams and preserves, cakes and savouries and Christmas decorations, which included collectable Santa’s, elves and robins, all made out of wood and cleverly decorated.
Mo Cuthbert, one of the organisers said: “We made a spectacular sum of £4,660. Our new handbag stall was a huge success and the hand made Christmas trees were a sell out, as were the new woodland robins.
“Numbers coming in were up too, with over 185 visitors in the short two–and–a–half–hour market. The raffle and silent auction had their best years, so much thanks goes to the local companies that supported the event.
“We could not have made so much without their generosity and the hard work of the dedicated team of volunteers.”
