AFTER submitting an application for an outdoor classroom on Bohunt Manor frontage land last November, Green Village Investments has been turned down by the South Downs National Park Authority's planners.

The reasons for rejection were that the proposal would "provide a new building within the national park countryside, adversely affecting the character of the woodland area, for which there is no proven need, nor clear future in terms of ownership or maintenance".

The application was supported by the head of Liphook Junior School, Michele Frost, as well as Bohunt School headteacher Neil Strowger and his deputy Phil Avery, who confirmed their interest in making use of the outdoor classroom for educational purposes given its proposed situation within the private Bohunt nature reserve.

The outdoor classroom would also have been offered for use to local community groups such as the Scouts.
