WENDAGE Pollution. a water and effluent treatment specialist, has caused another storm in Conford, according to villagers. Residents of the small hamlet say that despite being refused a certificate of lawful use, Wendage Pollution has continued to trade and is now applying to erect industrial buildings on a wholly unsuitable site. Jill Davis, a resident of Conford, said: "The village is in uproar. We have all written letters of objection and intend to attend the planning meeting to make sure our views are heard." In her letter to the council, Mrs Davies sets out her reasons for objecting to planning permission being granted. Mrs Davies' letter said: "This is not a suitable area for commercial use. "The road is too narrow for two vehicles to pass; there are two dangerous bends where cyclists have been knocked off their bikes and cars have narrowly avoided contact; "there is only one way in and the same way out; in other words it is a big cul-de-sac. "On top of this the proposed building would be the other side of a ford, which only recently had to be completely remade, again due to the use of heavy lorries." Finally, Mrs Davies asked to be kept informed when the planning meeting for this application at East Hampshire District Council will be held, as she wishes to attend to ensure her voice and views are heard. When aproached about the subject, George Mansfield, managing director of Wendage Pollution, said: "Everything is in the planning application including our reasons for the buildings and we have nothing to hide. "I will be at the planning meeting and I am happy to answer any questions people may have. The ford was not damaged by our trucks. "The council told us that the repair work they had done on the area previously was done to a sub- standard level which is why they had to come back and repair it again. "We have not made an application for planning in the past." According to the planning department at EHDC the planning application F24302/006/FUL was validated on April 3, but a 'decision' meeting has yet to be scheduled. The application, however, is set to be discussed at the Bramshott and Liphook parish council planning meeting which will take place on Monday, May 21, at 8pm.
