AN angry reception was given to proposals to amalgamate two Farnham schools on Monday, at the first of three public meetings on the issue.

The meeting at South Farnham Junior School was dominated by parents from St Andrew's Infant School in the town centre, who believe their children's chances of a place at top performing South Farnham will be hit if the junior school merges with The Bourne Infant School.

The junior school is summed up in The Good Schools Guide as "an absolute star in the state system which stands head and shoulders above many private schools".

For a full report of the meeting see this week's Farnham Herald.
