SHOWSHACK Dance and Theatre School students have celebrated outstanding results in ballet, tap and modern and LAMDA exams this summer with a record number of distinctions.

Students leaving for university were able for the first time to take their advanced tap and modern exams in the purpose built Bourne Hall studios.

For several students this was the last opportunity to complete the full complement of exams through all the grades from beginners tap to Advanced 2 level.

“Huge congratulations to Anna Harrison, Pippa Brown, Eva Sayer and Gini Harrington,” said a spokesman for Showshack.

“Over a third of ballet students achieved distinctions with congratulations going to Lucy Deverage, Sophie Humphries, Marianna Whistlecroft, Sophie Hyland, and Ashley Gaffney.

“Miss Wendy McElroy, head of ballet at Showshack and renowned RAD examiner and Miss Chris-Louise have done an amazing job inspiring ballet dancers from beginners to intermediate in ever growing classes.”

LAMDA results were some of the best that Showshack have seen with distinctions for over 50 per cent of the students ranging from entry level to gold in solos, duos, musical theatre, acting, devised drama and public speaking. These awards improve communication skills, increase self confidence and help to develop strong social skills.

All higher level LAMDA, RAD and ISTD exams are accredited and give equivalent points towards GCSE, A-level and UCAS.

“Congratulations to you all,” added the spokesman. “Don’t miss Showtime 2015 on November 14 and 15. Our charity show in aid of St Luke’s Cancer Centre is being staged at The Princes Hall in Aldershot.”
