A BORDON man who died after injecting a lethal dose of painkillers was "failed by the medical profession", an inquest has heard.

Nicholas Smith, 47, was found dead at his home, in Monument Chase, Whitehill, on September 28, clutching a syringe containing oxycodone.

This week his wife told an inquest, held at Alton Magistrates Court, how her husband had started using prescription drugs to cope with chronic pain, caused by an injury more than a decade ago.
