AN often overlooked street in Petersfield could be well and truly back on the map this year with regeneration plans and special markets on the cards for the gateway to the town and the South Downs National Park.
With the town's station a stone's throw from the hubs of small shops and eateries, Hampshire County Council and Petersfield Neighbourhood Plan representatives have already met with shop owners in Lavant Street to move forward long-awaited plans to regenerate the thoroughfare.
Trees, benches, outdoor eating, wider pavements and more user-friendly pedestrian access, possibly with one-way traffic, are all under discussion.
