A FAMILY from The Chantrys, Farnham, claims that Waverley Borough Council is trying to force them to get rid of their family pet after an incident involving a council repairs contractor being "nipped" by the dog.

Darren Fenny, 34, insists his five-year-old Staffordshire terrier cross, called Dave, is completely trustworthy and the incident only occurred because the contractor scared him by moving in close to take a photo.

Mr Fenny, who lives with his brother Darryl and mum Jennifer, said his children, aged 10, four and two, have always played with the dog, who is "a real softie".

He believes Dave will probably have to be euthanised if the council gets its way and intends to vigorously fight the council's demands.
