BUDDING decorators have swung into action to get a cricket ground near Petersfield looking its best for the new season. The future of Steep Cricket Club is looking great on and off the field thanks to the efforts of residents who joined their bring a brush day initiative. More than a dozen volunteers brought their paintbrushes to Church Lane to give the pavilion a fresh lick of paint. Their players were also happy to pitch in and happily swapped their bats and pads for a brush in the community initiative. It was definitely an all-round performance as volunteers also painted the mowing shed, tidied up the ground, and erected the netting during the afternoon. The future looks promising for the village club as its first XI won promotion last year and their other teams are showing encouraging signs. New and prospective players are always welcome to get in touch. For more details, visit steep cc.co.uk.
