IT has been a particularly successful term for the Eggar’s School under-13 cricket squad.

The year seven cricket team were crowned district champions when they won the Aldershot and Farnham District Cup on July 4, beating Salesian College in an incredibly tight match as they finally edged home by two runs. Excellent bowling and tight fielding was the key to victory.

The year seven boys also went to the Ageas Bowl to play in the Lord Taverners indoor cricket tournament. They reached the final by defeating Toynbee by seven runs, Testwood by six wickets, and in the semi-final they beat Testbourne, chasing down the 60 runs required for victory. In the final, the squad faced Priestlands School, who posted an impressive 108 runs. But the boys dealt with the pressure superbly, reaching the score in the final over.

And cricketing success continued when the year seven and eight cricket team won their semi-final in the Hampshire Plate competition against Perins. They were winners by 27 runs and faced Connaught in the final at Tichborne Park. They set Connaught 124 runs to win but bowled them out with 26 runs to spare.
