BOTH young and old had a flipping good time celebrating Shrove Tuesday this week, with pancake races in Elstead and myriad schools.

The annual Elstead village pancake race took place on Saturday, March 2, with 50 children and adults tossing their pancakes along Stacey’s Farm Road to the Village Hall.

Winning the three to five year olds’ race was Oakley Brook, Marissa Hadderton-Thompson won the six to ten year olds’ race, Harry Carter won the closely fought 11 to 14 year olds’ race, and Hannah Spicer was top adult.

The fun continued with a pancake-tossing competition, won by Emily Carter and Michael Swayne, and a fancy dress competition, won by Delilah Hicks as Elsa and Molly Bruni as Rapunzel.

Organisers have thanked “everyone who gave their time to organise this popular event and the many people who helped on the day”.
