FARNHAM was a town without petrol this week and, as the national crisis deepened, people stockpiled food and essential supplies.

As The Herald went to press on Wednesday there were no petrol stations open in Farnham and a spokesman from Sainsbury's in Water Lane said trade this week was up by 50 per cent, describing it as "just like Christmas".
