FARNHAM Double Paralympian Kylie Grimes is approaching the 2017 World Para Athletics Championships in London in good form and with great excitement – she will be competing tomorrow (Friday, July 14) with her event starting at 7.20pm, with coverage on Channel 4.

Kylie finished forth in the F51 Club throw in Rio, and immediately afterwards pushed herself into a hard winters training.

“Rio was a wonderful experience but finishing forth again (she also finished forth in the 2015 World Championships and 2016 European championships) was frustrating,” said Kylie.

She opened her season winning the Sharjah International Open meeting in the United Arab Emirates with a massive personal best of 19.65m.

She has followed this up by increasing her PB to 19.87 at a recent event and has made many more throws over 19m throughout the season.

Kylie added: “It is always a great honour to represent your country and especially so because it is a home championships being held in London. Ticket sales have been good and I am sure that the country will get behind us and help drive us on.

“It is also very exciting to compete on the first session of the Championships and hope that the British team can kick off with some medals.”
