BRAMSHOTT and Liphook Parish Council has approved its annual grants for 2018/19, after receiving a broad range of applications from local organisations and charities.

The total grants budget amounts to £21,000 with £15,850 being approved by the parish council, leaving £5,150 for additional applications throughout the year.

Councillors want to encourage organisations who have not applied before to come forward.

The Jubilee Sailing Trust, the only disability charity making an application, will receive £500, while the Peak Centre Trust, which provides a drop-in centre and assistance for the elderly three days a week, has been awarded a grant of £3,750.

Victim Support, which has looked after 82 people locally over the last year, receives £100 and Liphook Village Market £800 towards printing and advertising, after losing its sponsor.

The village carnival has been given £2,250 toward the running of the popular annual event, while Liphook in Bloom is awarded £1,700 towards their total costs and Bramshott War Memorial Trust receives £750.

Liphook Tennis Club, which has been supported over the last two years by the parish council, will only receive £500 in the coming financial year after councillors felt funds should be reserved to support other sports clubs in the village.

Home-Start Wey Water, which is based in Bordon but supports a number of families in the parish, will receive £500, while East Hampshire Citizens’ Advice Bureau (CAB), which holds a free weekly drop in service every Tuesday morning at the Millennium Centre, receives £5,000.

Liphook Youth Club has recently re-opened its weekly Monday evening sessions and has applied for free use of the Millennium Centre.

Councillors have deferred their decision pending a meeting with the youth club committee.

The parish council has agreed to purchase two new computers for staff members at the Millennium Centre up to an amount of £2,000, which will be funded equally from the equipment purchases budget and general reserves.

In addition the council also agreed to purchase new office furniture for the centre, costing up to £1,000, which will be funded by the replacement furniture budget.
